Job Summary:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud infrastructure. You will work hands-on to design and implement automated systems, establish best practices for cloud governance, and mentor other engineers, while collaborating closely with engineering leadership on longer-term infrastructure strategy.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning systems end-to-end, proactively identifying bottlenecks before they become incidents, and strongly believes in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architectural Leadership: Design, build, and operate scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS, supporting multiple environments (development, staging, production).

• Advanced CI/CD Orchestration: Build and evolve robust CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, security scanning, and modern deployment strategies such as blue-green and canary releases.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Standardize infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, with a strong focus on modular design, reusability, and safe state management across environments.

• Container Orchestration: Operate and improve containerized workloads at scale. Our primary orchestration platform is ECS, though experience with Kubernetes (EKS) is also valued.

• Reliability & Observability: Implement and maintain observability solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) to improve system transparency, reduce Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR), and support data-driven operational decisions.

• Security & DevSecOps: Embed security into the delivery lifecycle by managing IAM, VPC networking, encryption at rest and in transit, and automated vulnerability detection and patching.

• Incident Response & Operational Excellence: Participate in incident response, post-mortems, and root-cause analysis, helping define pragmatic reliability practices without unnecessary process overhead.

• Mentorship & Technical Leadership: Act as a technical leader within the team by reviewing infrastructure code, sharing best practices, and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience: 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Software Engineering with a strong infrastructure focus.

• Cloud Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with AWS, including services such as EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and Route53, along with practical cost-optimization experience.

• Infrastructure as Code: Expert-level proficiency with Terraform (module design, remote state management, multi-environment workflows). CloudFormation experience is also acceptable.

• Automation & Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for automating operational workflows and reducing manual toil.

• Container Platforms: Solid knowledge in Docker or similar tech, proven experience in advanced ECS setup and/or running production workloads Kubernetes.

• Networking & Security Fundamentals: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS, load balancing, and web application security (e.g., WAFs).

• Modern CI/CD standards: Capable to setup CI/CD pipelines from the ground up with GitHub Action, or similar technologies such as CircleCI, Jenkins.

• Database Operations: Experience operating and scaling relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and familiarity with NoSQL systems.

• Communication & Collaboration: Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and clearly communicate complex technical topics to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

• Compliance & Security Automation: Experience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or GDPR/PDPA through automated controls, evidence collection, and infrastructure hardening.

• Advanced Observability: Experience with distributed tracing (e.g., Signoz, Jaeger, Honeycomb) and defining SLIs/SLOs for business-critical services.

• Cloud Cost Optimization: Demonstrated success reducing AWS spend using Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Spot Instances.

• Disaster Recovery & Resilience: Experience designing and testing automated backup strategies and multi-region failover scenarios.

• Developer Experience (DevEx): Experience building internal tooling or platforms (e.g., Backstage, internal CLIs) that enable developers to safely self-serve infrastructure.
